She Sells Sea Shells

Description

The story

She Sells Sea Shells is a portrait of motherhood, sacrifice, and the quiet strength it takes to survive.

I painted the original in 2018, when I was raising my children largely on my own and working nights to keep a roof over their heads. The curled feminine form became both woman and seashell — soft yet guarded, turning inward not in surrender, but in protection.

The title came from my daughter, Arabella. She looked at the unfinished canvas and asked, “Mommy, what are you painting?” I said, “A seashell.” She is the mother. Sells is the sacrifice of time away from my children to provide for them. Seashells are the beauty that hardship could not take from her.

The open edition brings her home at a size and price made for first-time collectors. Same painting. Same story. An easier yes.
